What is AYSO Schoolyard?

AYSO Schoolyard Jamboree is an introduction to soccer designed specifically for young children in a fun, supportive, and low-pressure environment. The program helps players develop basic soccer skills such as kicking, dribbling, and throw-ins while encouraging teamwork, confidence, and social interaction.

The focus of Jamboree is to introduce children to the game of soccer through active play and positive experiences — without the pressure of competition or keeping score. Sessions are led by professional coaches with strong parent involvement and include age-appropriate games, activities, and small-sided play designed for young learners.


Who Can Participate?

Children born between August 1, 2021 and July 31, 2022 are eligible to participate.


When and Where Does Schoolyard Jamboree Take Place?

Sessions are held at Yorba Linda Middle School (4777 Casa Loma Ave, Yorba Linda — enter the field through the Tommy Lasorda Field House entrance) every Friday at 6:00 PM during the season.

Fall 2026 Season: September 11 through November 13.


Is There Competition in AYSO Schoolyard Jamboree?

No. In Schoolyard Jamboree, scores and standings are not kept — every player is a winner.

The focus is on fun, participation, and helping children become comfortable with the ball and the field while learning the basics of soccer. Players wear jerseys or pinnies, shin guards, and cleats while enjoying an exciting introduction to the game in a supportive AYSO environment.

Most importantly, children discover that soccer is something they can do — and enjoy doing.
